The “MK5 slab on grade” has actually been designed as a two-way floating slab foundation. We have designed this foundation according to Part 4 Structural, of the Ontario Building Code. The foundation has been designed for serviceability (serviceability limit states: restricting problems from deflection, limiting damage to the structure itself, and creep/temperature
shrinkage changes).
The forms for the foundation slab have been manufactured / designed to protect the slab and rebar positioning integrity.
The foundation design has been carried out by a structural professional engineer practicing for 55 years with extensive experience in the design of floating foundations. The MK5 is a patented product that complies with the Current OBC.
Pre-Engineered MK5 Foundations are designed and priced at the same time as the building, waiting for Structural drawings then passing them on to a foundation engineers are over. The building is designed with the foundation in mind, eliminating possible errors. Adjusting the frame spacing and wind brace positions on the building will lower the upload and down-load reactions on the slab, maximizing building with foundation efficiency and cost as a package.
The MK5 Foundation designed with your steel building will generate the most cost-effective project price possible.
MK5 Pre-Fabricated Foundations, a high yield steel Thread-bar design based on a suspended slab, inverted, combined with 150 grade post-tension bar in a structural slab grid creating a 2-way reinforced concrete as a structural foundation supporting superstructure loads, on ground.
